For the second part of Memorial Day weekend we spent time at Bear Lake with my parents. They have a lushly wooded yard with several ponds and lots of local wildlife. Here is fern that seems to be sporing, along with many of its neighbors. I saved a sporing leaf and am planning on trying to grow some ferns for my own yard. I found some directions online,
and it sounds like an easy project.

Here is something else in their yard--the headstone at my grandparents' grave. They died about 10 years ago, within a day of each other; they always did do everything together. My grandpa is my favorite veteran. It was special to see their stone on Memorial Day.How I miss them both.

What a lovely trio of frogs; just a tiny sample of the population
in their ponds at this time of year.

I don't often have reason to use the underwater feature of my camera, but on this day I had fun capturing weightless images of frogs without the pull of gravity on their bodies.
They look so relaxed.
